A Night to Shine: Help Discover a Cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Hauptman Woodward Medical Research Institute is known throughout the World for discovering medical breakthroughs in genetic research, making it the ideal venue for the 2010 A Night to Shine, Come Out and See the Stars charity gala.

The event will be hosted by Suneel’s Light, a local non-profit foundation with the sole mission of raising funds for genetic research that will lead to the cure of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), while increasing public awareness of the genetic disease. A Night to Shine, formerly known as Tailgate for a Cure, is the Foundation’s major fundraiser of the year and will “shine brightly upon” the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus on Thursday, October 14th from 5:30 pm – 9 pm at the Hauptman Woodward Life Science Building 700 Ellicott Street, Buffalo NY.

Thinking of Getting a Rabbit for a Pet?

Are you ready for a rabbit?  Are you familiar with its penchant for digging?  Do you understand its dietary and housing needs?  Before bringing a new bunny home, you should learn basic bunny care.

As with any domesticated animal, we can trace most of the rabbit’s behavior back to his wild ancestors. And it comes as no surprise that rabbits, by nature, are diggers and burrowers. In the wild, a safe excavation for homes and birthing places can reach three feet in depth; so it will take your rabbit almost no time at all to ruin a carpet or dig a tunnel in your garden – should he have the opportunity. Your best option is to supervise him closely and provide him safe alternatives to fulfill his natural tendency to dig.
