Family Displaced by Morning Fire

AMHERST – A house fire displaced a family of five early Sunday morning.

Main-Transit Fire Chief Jon Kemp reports to Erie County Fire Blotter firefighters were dispatched to 410 McKinley Avenue around 7:32am to investigate an arcing wire. Firefighters arrived on location within two minutes and found heavy smoke and fire burning in the attic.

Using one attack line, crews acted fast to contain the fire, which spread from the attic into a bedroom.

Firefighters from Synder responded as the incident’s FAST Team.

We’re told that the home’s electrical service line to the house was arcing against the side of the home which in turn caused the fire.

Chief Kemp estimates damages at $130,000. No injuries were reported.
