Attempted Purse Snatching on UB North Campus

AMHERST, N.Y. -- UB officials Wednesday night issued an emergency alert about an attempted purse-snatching in Jacobs "A" parking lot on the university's Amherst campus.

According to the statement, at about 8:30 p.m. a student walking from the Capen Hall library to her car was accosted by two white males in dark clothing wearing dark colored sweatshirts: "They pushed the victim to the ground, striking her and attempted to get her bag. When she resisted they fled northeast."

One sweatshirt was described as a "North Face Fleece Sweater," the statement says. A more thorough description is posted on the UB Police Emergency Alert website.

In a subsequent update, UB Police said they believed that the thieves had fled the campus. They're asking anyone with information that may be helpful to the investigation to call 645-2222.
