Fall Treats for Dogs in Amherst

Autumn is a great time of year for pets in Amherst. There’s Halloween and Thanksgiving, colored leaves, pumpkins and mums, and the crisp air.

Here are some ways you and your dog can share autumnal bliss!

Take a nature walk.
What better time of year than the fall for walking with your dog. Find a nice path or park such as Mill Street Park, grab a water bottle and go. Don’t forget your camera.

Play in the leaves.
My dogs and I love doing this together. They “help” me rake, while jumping around and getting piles of leaves tossed on them.

Try pumpkin.
Believe it or not, canned pumpkin is really good for dogs. It’s packed with healthy vitamins and is filling without being fattening. Add a spoonful to your pup’s dinner for a treat.

Snuggle up in a warm blanket.
Wrap you and your dog in a warm blanket. Give them a ear rub and a back scratch and enjoy the relaxing together.

Wear a costume.
Many pets love to wear a costume. If your dog enjoys this, go for it!

My dogs, Chilli, Olive and CoCo, and I hope you have a fun and safe Halloween!
