Williamsville Comedy Benefit for Trees Leaves Locals Laughing

The 2nd Annual Leaves & Laughs comedy festival saw four seasoned comics bolt through a raucous rant of one liners to the delight of a nearly sold out Rob's Comedy Playhouse in Williamsville on Saturday.

Opening was club co-owner Rob Lederman who took shots at TV garden show host Sally Cunningham seated just a sapling's length away, "you make the auto advice guy sound interesting", ripped Lederman, citing her Sunday morning tube appearances.

Such was the mood of the evening with the microphone relay from Lederman to Dan Pordum to the eventual headliner Marc Sinodinos gathering steam and goading the well-lubricated gallery with quips on their occupations and orientations.

The fundraiser brought in thousands of dollars for the Re-Tree WNY charity that has been reforesting the region's streets and parks since October, 2006.  Chairman Paul Maurer deemed it a second-year success as his volunteers prepare the eighth seasonal reforesting this October:  "Rob and his crew has always offered their venue to help us raise funds, and this is now a yearly staple for our group in August,"

Rob's Comedy Playhouse is located at 1340 N. Forest Road in Williamsville inside Dandelion's Restaurant.

Volunteers are still encouraged to join in the ongoing planting with information available at www.re-treewny.org.  Most will be asked to join the army needed to inter nearly 400 trees along South Park Avenue in South Buffalo on October 23rd, Re-Tree's signature project for the fall.  Anyone interested in donating or helping is urged to call Paul Maurer at (716) 553-4061 or e-mail pdmaurer@roadrunner.com.
