May is Full of Special Events at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village

 

Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village will be a popular place during the month of May, with several special events filling the calendar.

May charges out of the gate with a Kentucky Derby Spring Hat Luncheon & Fashion Show at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3. Festivities will include a delicious meal, auction, fashion show, hat contest and much more. The basket auction will start at 11 a.m., with lunch served at noon. Tickets are just $25 and are available by calling BNHV at 689-1440 or online at www.bnhv.org.

Heritage Preservation is pleased to announce that Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village has been chosen to participate in the 2014 Conservation Assessment Program (CAP). BNHV joins the 2,800 museums that have participated in CAP in its 22 year history of serving museums.

Drums Along the Waterfront Announces New Venue; Tickets Now Available

The popular Drums Along the Waterfront Tour of Champions drum corps event returns to Western New York on Sunday, Aug. 3, at a new venue! Tickets are now available for this musical spectacle, taking place at the University at Buffalo football stadium.

“Due to the major renovation project taking place at Ralph Wilson Stadium, we’ll be moving back to the University at  Buffalo where we held successful competitions in both 2003 and 2007,” said event organizer Jack Gaylord Jr. “We need the right setting and stage for the greatest corps in the world and the many thousands of fans who will be cheering them on, and the University at Buffalo can accommodate all of our needs.”

It’s quite an accomplishment when you can take a hobby and turn it into a career. It becomes a remarkable achievement when you can expand upon that career so that it will benefit countless others in your community and across the country.

But that’s exactly what 26-year-old Orchard Park resident Matt Schreiner has been able to accomplish, with amazing results. After graduating from Niagara Falls High School and Buffalo State College, where he majored in education, Schreiner decided to follow a different career path. This path focused on his artistic abilities and his love of sports and especially his hometown teams, the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills.

Exhibits, Classes Continue at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery

 

Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery in West Seneca has several creative events and classes planned throughout the months of April and May. The gallery is located at 1168 Orchard Park Road.

The popular Wine, Women & Art class returns from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10.  A girl’s night out, participants in this month’s class will paint a pair of wine glasses and a wine decanter in a grape motif. All supplies are included and the cost of the class is just $25. To reserve your place, please call 675-0204.

Evolution Wearable Art Fashion Show April 6

On April 6, 2014, the Impact Artists Gallery is holding their premier fundraising event, “Evolution…Wear Art Meets Fashion”. This wearable art runway competition features 60 unique, one-of-kind, wearable art fashions created by local and national artists. Taking place at the Tonawanda Castle Tickets to this fashion event are $35 but why not go for the whole experience with the purchase of a VIP ticket for $75. VIP ticket includes preferred seating at the runway show and an after party complete with champagne, desserts, a "swag bag" and an opportunity to meet and great the artists, fashion designers and models in full costume.

All proceeds from this event go to support the Impact Artists Gallery, a non-profit organization that provides a venue for local artists to exhibit, sell, collaborate and learn. Impact, a supporter of WNY artist for over 20 years, is truly a "Great place to hang."
