Spend a Day with the World-Renowned Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps

Imagine yourself standing in the middle of Jim Ball Stadium on Erie Community College South campus with 150 of the world’s most talented musical athletes, learning what it takes to perform at the highest level. On June 27, Western New York youth and adults alike will have the chance to do this and more with world-renowned drum corps, The Cadets.

Music is Cool, hosted by The Cadets, and presented by Drum Corps International in cooperation with Drums Along the Waterfront and Erie Community College, returns the finest in music and marching educational programming to Western New York. Participants will experience everything from warm-up to sectional rehearsal to a “show-and-tell session” with the corps.

Incredible Roycroft ‘Goodie Box’ Raffle Set for June 30

One of the most creative and sought-after prizes to be given away in Western New York this summer will be raffled off at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 30, at the annual Roycroft Summer Arts & Crafts Festival. The popular festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 29-30 at Parkdale Elementary School, 141 Girard Ave., East Aurora. 

Hand-crafted by Roycroft Master Artisans Jerry Smith and Ann Perry Smith, this year’s “goodie box” is an attractive chocolate brown stoneware clay container. Making the goodie box even more special is the fact that it is filled with contents donated by other Roycroft Renaissance Artisans. The total value of the goodie box and its Roycroft contents is $6,600! Tickets for the raffle will be available throughout the festival.

Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, formerly known as the Amherst Museum, will kick off the summer festival season with two incredible events packed into one exciting weekend. Authentic German foods, beer and entertainment will be featured during the German Festival from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 15, followed by the Buffalo Blues and Brews Festival from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 16.

Roycroft Summer Arts & Crafts Festival to Showcase Area’s Finest Artisans

 

The annual Roycroft Summer Arts & Crafts Festival — one of the highlights of summer in East Aurora and Western New York — will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 29-30 at Parkdale Elementary School, 141 Girard Ave., East Aurora. 

This year’s show will feature talent from over 80 juried artisans, including more than 40 Roycroft Renaissance Artisans! Many medias will be on display and available for purchase, including ceramics, fabric/fiber, wood, jewelry, sculpture, paintings, photography, metal, glass, drawings, leather, graphics and more.
