How to Make Your Car Last Forever: Auto Q&A with Tom Torbjornsen

Dear Tom,

I own a ’91 Lincoln Town Car with the 4.6-liter V8. While I was driving home the other day the accelerator seemed to slip past its normal position a little too far. From then on, it accelerates very slowly and will not kick into overdrive when the accelerator is depressed all the way to the floor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Tom,

I own a 2006 F250 4x4 Ex Cab with a 6.0 L Diesel. What are your thoughts on the chip tuners such as Bully Dog and Super Chips? Are they worth the investment?

How to Make Your Car Last Forever: Auto Q&A with Tom Torbjornsen

Dear Tom,

I own a ’02 Ford Focus that came with one key when I bought it (used). When I went to get a second key made I was told that they couldn't make a key for it because it had a “transponder” and I would need to get one from a dealer. This is expensive! Is this absolutely necessary or is there another way to get a key?

Local Powerlifter is Training Other Athletes to Win

In his early teens, Steve Helmicki considered himself a bit of an undersized football player, which led him to begin training in his parents’ attic with a DP vinyl and sand weight set and a Bill Grant fitness manual. While countless other young athletes might have a similar story to tell, very few — if any — have ever taken it quite as far as Helmicki.

His passion for fitness and weightlifting would eventually lead him to national and world powerlifting titles and even some world records. In fact, he’s built a weightlifting resume that goes beyond being impressive. Statistically, he is among the all-time greats in a sport that doesn’t get a tremendous amount of exposure. If it did, he’d almost certainly be a household name by now.
