CERT Recipe Book Marks Group’s 10th Anniversary

The Town of Tonawanda Community Emergency Response Team is serving up a book full of useful tips and quick recipes that are sure to warm you up this winter.

The 114-page cookbook, “CERT-ified Easy Recipes and Tips,” will raise funds for the community group, which has a mission of training residents to be prepared to help themselves, their loved ones and their neighbors during an emergency. The book project also was organized to celebrate CERT’s 10th anniversary in the town. Since 2003, CERT has trained more than 300 residents in emergency preparedness.

Separated into six categories – breakfasts; appetizers, dips and sauces; soups, sides and salads; entrees; desserts; and gluten-free – the recipe collection was gathered from CERT members’ personal family favorites. Among the recipes, readers will find safety tips outlining how to prepare for a natural or man-made disaster, including what supplies to have on hand and how to create a family plan.

“CERT-ified Easy Recipes and Tips” is available for a $15 donation per copy from CERT members, by calling Regina at 834-4153 or Marge at 833-3429 or by emailing tonawandanycert@gmail.com.

Copies also will be available for sale at the following Town of Tonawanda locations: Kenmore Dental Associates, 2835 Elmwood Ave; Bumblebeez Consignment and Children’s Boutique, 906 Brighton Road; and Center Ice Sports Cards, 1592 Niagara Falls Blvd.
