The Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks & Recreation Department is planning its annual Winterfest, which will be held from Thursday, Jan. 11 to Monday, Jan. 15. The event will feature activities for all ages, including ice skating, hockey games, Zumba, swimming, hayrides, fireworks, and more. Some activities will be free, while others will have fees or a requirement to purchase tickets. Several ticketed activities include: - Wine tasting: 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at the Tonawanda Senior Center, 291 Ensminger Road. Tickets are $22 each and must be purchased prior to the event at the center or at the Youth, Parks & Recreation office at 299 Decatur Road. Attendees must be 21 or older. - Resurgence Brewing Company beer tasting: 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at the DFK Pavilion Ice Rink outside Lincoln Arena, Decatur Road. Tickets are $20 each and may be purchased at the senior center or the Youth, Parks & Recreation office. Winterfest also will feature live music by the Strictly Hip Acoustic Duo, a hockey game between the Town of Tonawanda Police Department and Ellwood Fire Co. to benefit the Ken-Ton Closet, The Buffalo Zoo Mobile, a Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels chili tasting, and appearances by Sabretooth and Tank the Police Dog.
