Theft of Over $400 of Cosmetics and Clothing from an Amherst Store

Amherst Police are looking for two suspect in a larceny of over $400 worth of cosmetics and clothing from a Transit Road department store in Amherst. 

The suspects are white females pictured in the security video.  The suspect in the pink top and black pants was described as 5'5" tall and 180 lbs., the other suspect in the black/white top and blanks pants was described as 5'7" 140 lbs.  Both had small children with them.

The Amherst Police are looking for the white male suspect shown in the security images. The suspect stole over $200 worth of men's fragances from a beauty supply store on Niagara Falls Blvd. in Amherst.

Amherst Police Officers Stop Stolen Car in Eggerstville, Arrest Driver

On 03/05/12 at approximately 0403 hrs Corey Brown and Officer Kyle LeFevre stopped a stolen vehicle on Niagara Falls Blvd near Princeton Bd for traffic infractions.  The occupants of the vehicle were detained without incident and investigation revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen from the City of Buffalo.  The stolen vehicle also contained several miscellaneous items (including GPS and credit card) that officers were able to determine where stolen from a vehicle parked overnight in Buffalo.

Driver of stolen vehicle:  Arquain Reese, 17 year old male, Buffalo, NY arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th (Class E Felony), Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle (Class A Misdemeanor), and three traffic violations.

Amherst Police are Looking for Suspects in Larceny of Eyeglass Frames

The Amherst Police are looking for two suspects pictured in the security video.

The black male and black female suspects stole over $1000 of prescription eyeglass frames from an Eggertsville doctor's office on 2/14/2012.

Robbery on UB's Amherst Campus

 

UB sent this alert out to students Thursday:

At 1:55 a.m. this morning, a resident of Spaulding Quad reported to University Police that three males entered his room and demanded money. The suspects stole an undetermined amount of cash from residents and left the area on foot. All three suspects were described as wearing all dark clothing, dark hoodies, and ski masks. One suspect pulled up his shirt and displayed what appeared to be a gun. No one was injured.

University Police conducted a thorough search of the area and additional officers will remain in the vicinity overnight.

Amherst Police Recognized for Sex Offender Management Program

SCHENECTADY, NEW YORK – The Amherst Police Department has been certified by the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police (Association) in a special sex offender management program. The certification recognizes that the Amherst Police are employing proactive and sound practices in managing sex offenders in their community. The “Certified Best Practices” program was launched in 2009 to recognize police agencies using proven strategies to monitor sex offenders, provide community notification and conduct enforcement.

Town of Amherst Police Department is investigating two residential burglaries that occurred on 02/10/12.  

 **Incident #1:  Complainant contacted Amherst Police Department on 2/10/12 at 2033 hrs to report that she heard glass break and an unknown offender walking around inside her Alberta Drive residence.  Complainant reports that the unknown offender left her residence in an unknown direction.  Officers responded to the area and secured the perimeter while a premises check was conducted with negative results for the offender.  K-9 Officer Grillo also assisted in the search.  Complainant reports a piece of electronic equipment was stolen and it was recovered in the vicinity of the incident by Officers.
