Investigation into Selling Marijuana to Students Leads to Arrest of Amherst Man

The Amherst Police Narcotics Unit arrested Louis F. Copes, 52 of Callodine Avenue on misdemeanor drug charges, concluding a several month long investigation into Marijuana sales to area high school aged children.

 Detectives executed a search warrant issued by Amherst Town Justice Mark G. Farrell on Copes' Callodine Avenue residence January 24th,  seizing was over $3,000 cash and a quantity of Marijuana.

 Copes is due back in Amherst Town Court February 12th.

Television Display Monitor Stolen from Amherst Grocery Store

The Amherst Police are looking for the suspect pictured in the security video who stole a Flat Screen television/DVD/VCR display monitor from an Alberta Drive grocery store.

The white male suspect has dark hair and scruffy beard. The suspect has a tattoo on his upper right arm and a tattoo on his lower left arm (almost appears to be a sleeve style tatoo).

The suspect concealed the TV on the bottom of a shopping cart, covered by a jacket, and then left the store.

Amherst Police are Looking for Suspects in Two Seperate Crimes

LARCENIES FROM THE MACY'S MEN'S STORE

 ** THE PERSON LISTED BELOW MAY BE THE SUSPECT IN NUMEROUS LARCENIES FROM MACY'S ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT DATES **

 PHOTO #1:  Suspect took large amounts of clothing, wearing a blue coat with possibly a gray colored hooded sweatshirt underneath or the coat has white trim around the collar and some unknown patch/logo on the front left chest of coat.

PHOTO #2:  The same suspect stole a large amount of coats from the Macy's Men's Store at the Boulevard Mall.   The black male suspect was wearing green winter coat with white stripe across the front and down both sleeves, and tan/beige colored pants and a knit hat.

The suspect my have been operating at black or dark brown mini van.

Tips from the Public Help in the Arrest of a Suspect

Acting on tips from the public, Amherst Police detectives were able to identify the suspect in the security video.  

Detectives arrested SARAH COLES age 27 from Cheektowaga, NY on several charges stemming from the incident.

Two Residential Burglaries Reported in Snyder

Town of Amherst Police Department is investigating a report of two residential burglaries that occurred on 01/08/12 between 0300 hrs and 0630 hrs on Washington Hwy between Kings Hwy and Saratoga.  Both victims report that entry was gained through unlocked rear doors which led into their respective residence.  In one incident cash was stolen from a wallet and purse which were located near the suspect(s) point of entry.  In the other incident, cash and electronics were stolen from the area near the suspect(s) point of entry.

Amhert Police are Looking for Suspects in Larceny of Cash from Store

The Amherst Police are investigating a larceny of money from the Sprint Store on Niagara Falls Blvd. The suspect shown in the video is a black female, who may have been with two other black females took money from the store while inside. The suspects may have left in a red car.

Surveillance video of the suspect has been posted to the Amherst Police Department Facebook page.

Eggertsville Robbery Being Investigated, Amherst Police Looking for Suspects

Released Nov. 8, 2011, 8:49 p.m.

On 11/08/11 at approximately 0015 hrs Town of Amherst Police Department responded to Windermere Boulevard. just north of Kenmore Ave to investigate a report of a strong armed robbery. Victim reports that he was walking home from a nearby plaza northbound on Windermere Boulevard when he was approached by Offender #1.

 Victim reports that Offender #1 then reached into victim’s pocket and stole a recently purchased video game after attempting to trip him onto the ground.

Victim reports that Offender #2 then came up from behind and punched him several times. Victim reports he fell to the ground several other black males also attempted to strike and kick him before they dispersed in unknown direction. Victim refused medical treatment at scene.
