Cole’s to Host Paul Ranallo Book-signing Event on December 28 | Events
Cole’s Restaurant & Bar at 1104 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo, will host author Paul Ranallo for a book-signing event from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28.
Ranallo’s book, “What’s New, Harry? The Best of Buffalo Courier-Express Columnist Phil Ranallo,” features more than 100 of the late Phil Ranallo’s greatest columns originally published during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Paul, the son of Phil, recently fulfilled his father’s dream of publishing a book of his greatest columns. The columns cover a variety of public figures — from Ralph Wilson, Tim Horton and Jack Kemp to Muhammad Ali, Jesse Owens and Martin Luther King — in addition to historic moments in American history.
“Cole’s was one of my parent’s favorite places to visit back in the day,” said Paul Ranallo. “It’s a Buffalo landmark and I look forward to reliving a lot of memories with a lot of long-time friends. The Shatzel’s (owners of Cole’s) were real fans of ‘Honest Harry,’ so it should be a great time.
“The book has many references to Buffalo in it, including columns on the Rockpile, Ed Rutkowski, Tony Masiello, Tommy Baker, Ron Jaworski and others, and celebrates the lives of people like Joe Brown, the Offermann Stadium caretaker who made it big with the Baltimore Orioles, and Lou Goldstein, the well-known Buffalo physical education teacher who devoted his life to this area.”
