Erie County Clerk to Make ‘Opt-Out’ Form Available for Pick-Up | Events
Northtown Auto Bureau will be open Saturday 9am-12pm
Erie County, NY – In an effort to quickly distribute the newly released “Opt-Out” form, which enables individual pistol permit holders to protect their information from ever being made public, Erie County Clerk Jacobs will make the form available on Saturday, February 16th from 9:00 am-12:00 pm at the Northtown Auto Bureau, located in the Northtown Plaza at 3095 Sheridan Drive, Amherst, NY.
“I want to ensure that all pistol permit holders have several options in which to obtain this form and as quickly as possible, said Clerk Jacobs. “The law provides 60-days for permit holders to exercise this “opt-out” provision before someone can make a request for pistol records. So we are encouraging pistol permit holders who want assurance that their records will be kept private to obtain and complete the form immediately.”
Permit holders can also visit www.erie.gov/optout to print out a copy of the form, fill-it out and mail it or fax it in to the Erie County Clerk. Alternatively all County Auto Bureaus will have copies of the forms available as of Tuesday, February 19th, as well as the Pistol Permit Office located at 92 Franklin Street, Buffalo, NY 14202.
Completed forms are to be submitted to: Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs, c/o Pistol Permit Office, 92 Franklin Street Buffalo, NY 14202 or faxed to716/858-6550, Attn: Pistol Permit Office.
