Support Your Local Farmer, Find Out Why With Tracy Worcester! | Events

On April 11th Pig Business will be shown at The Screening Room, located at 3131 Sheridan Drive. Beginning at 6:30pm we will have a discussion about the importance of supporting local farms, and local economy. Readings from Animal Factory, Eating Animals, and Ninety-Five will be read to introduce viewers to the dangers that lie behind the walls of factory farms. It is not only the animals that are used for food that are harmed, but the employees at the farms, the consumers, and the communities in which these farms lie. I have worked to find local sources of meat and dairy, and will discuss those at the screening, as well as local butchers, and why they too, have a very hard time staying afloat in a world where cheap everything is so desirable.

Following the film we will be joined by Tracy Worcester, the films creator and director, for a question and answer session. Tracy premiered Pig Business on Capitol Hill on March 9th, and had outstanding support from Robert F. Kennedy Jr, and Dennis Kucinich. A $6 donation is requested, and will be used to support The Screening Room, and a portion will be donated to Farm Sanctuary. Farm Sanctuary is the nations leading rescue, education and advocacy organization for farmed animals. Farm Sanctuary has two farms, one in Orland California, and one only a short drive to scenic Watkins Glen. For those interested a group tour has been organized for June 11th.
