Fourth Annual Taste of East Aurora to Feature Numerous Eateries

 

The fourth annual Taste of East Aurora, featuring restaurants and food-related businesses with ties to the Greater East Aurora community, returns from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, on Main Street, from Olean Road to Riley Street.

“This is always a highly anticipated and well-attended event, and we expect a large crowd again this year,” said Gary Grote, executive director of the Greater East Aurora Chamber of Commerce. “Our restaurants help make East Aurora a popular destination for both locals and tourists!”

Canalside to Host New Boat & Auto Show

 

The very first Canalside Boat & Auto Show, free and open to the public, will take place Aug. 29-30 at the popular waterfront destination in downtown Buffalo. Event hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. 

The show will feature a dynamic display of more than 120 new cars, trucks and RVs. There will also be more than 100 powerboat, sailboats and jet skis on display – both on land and in the water! Food and drink offerings will also be available.

Annunciation to Celebrate ‘A Festival of Faiths’

 

The final segment of the four-part Sacred Journeys series at the Church of the Annunciation in Elma will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10. Titled “A Festival of Faiths,” the event will feature workshops in the Buddhist, Jewish, Islamic and Hindu faith traditions.

“A Festival of Faiths” will be held in Annunciation’s school building, located at 7580 Clinton St. The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

Annunciation to Introduce ‘Mommy and Me’ Program

 

A new learning opportunity for children 18 months to 3 years old will be offered by the Annunciation Strong Start Early Learning Academy in Elma beginning Sept. 21. The “Mommy and Me” program is a wonderful place to encourage your child’s development through play and socialization. You and your child will also have the opportunity to read, play and learn together through Circle Time, Story Time, Music and Movement and Open Play Time. 

“Mommy and Me” will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Mondays beginning Sept. 21. The cost is $10 per child per session or five classes for $45. A preview and informational orientation will be offered at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17. For more information or to register, please call 681-1327.

Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village Lists September Events

 

Four exciting events will take place during the month of September at the Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, located at 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road in Amherst.

Scott Schotz, the historic buildings and grounds manager at BNHV, will present a special lecture about historic woodworking and timber framing from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 10. He will perform demonstrations using 19th century tools and techniques and will work on a project during this lively lecture right before your eyes. This educational event costs $6 for adults, $4 for seniors and military, $2 for children and is free for members.

Ray Bentley Releases Football Novel, Plans Four WNY Book-signing Events

 

Ray Bentley, the former Buffalo Bills linebacker (1986 to ’91) and preseason TV play-by-play announcer now in his 13th season with ESPN as a college football game analyst, is releasing the hardcover edition of his debut fiction novel, “Driftwood,” in late August. Bentley has scheduled several appearances in Western New York Aug. 27-29 to sign copies of his book and meet with fans.
