Tumble Towards A Cure

On February, 13 The Jacquie Hirsch For A.L.L. Foundation and Greater Buffalo Gymnastics & Fitness Center will be hosting The 3rd Annual Jacquie Hirsch Memorial Boys Buffalo Challenge.

This competitive gymnastics meet will take place at Greater Buffalo Gymnastics & Fitness Center, 1641 North French Rd. Getzville, NY 14068.  Competition begins at 10:00 am on Sunday.  Admission is $7.00 for adults and $3.00 for children.  The public is encouraged to attend.

Adoption Event to Promote the Misunderstood Pit Bull

On February 12, 2011, the Maddie’s® Pet Rescue Project partners will be hosting Bully for You!, an adoption event to promote bully breed dogs.  Pit bull puppies and adults from the SPCA, City of Buffalo Animal Shelter, and Black Dog, Second Chance will be available for adoption from 11:00am – 2:00pm in the SPCA Auditorium, 205 Ensminger Rd.

Free Play Group at Harkness

Cheektowaga, NY (January 25, 2011) - Erie 1 BOCES Harkness Career & Technical Center has openings in their play group for children ages 2 to 4 years old. The Harkness playgroup is free and is held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Activities include art, music, story time, math, science and social readiness and a snack. With an excellent student to teacher ratio, the program doubles as a learning lab for high school juniors interested in early childhood development careers.

Mary Queen of Angels School to Celebrate Catholic Schools Week

Students, faculty, staff and families at Mary Queen of Angels School in Cheektowaga are looking forward to Catholic Schools Week with great anticipation! Located at 160 Rosewood Terrace, the Pre-K through Grade 8 regional Catholic school serves children from Amherst, Buffalo, Cheektowaga, Depew, Sloan, West Seneca and Williamsville.

Catholic Schools Week will kick off with 6 p.m. Mass on Saturday, January 29, at Queen of Martyrs Church. An ice cream social for Mary Queen of Angels students will take place in the school immediately following Mass.

Monday, January 31, will be P.J. Day at the school. Due to a faculty meeting, students will have just a half-day of school on January 31.

First Annual Winter Carnival at the Historical Society: Indoor and Outdoor Activities for ALL AGES!

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society's all-age, indoor/outdoor Winter Carnival will take place Sunday, January 23, 2011, from 1 to 4 p.m. This event is made possible with generous support from the Northwest Buffalo Community Center.

Special guest Sabretooth, the Buffalo Sabres' beloved mascot, will be here to greet visitors and pose for photos.

Outdoor activities include snowshoeing with Tifft Nature Preserve instructors, Iroquois Snowsnake game demonstrations, sledding, and snowman building.

Indoor activities will include face painting, arts & crafts, mini-museum tours and artifact scavenger hunts. In addition, everyone can enjoy live music from Vitamin D, a young local band that plays family-friendly reggae, funk and soul music. Indulge in delicious, locally made baked goods from Chrusciki Bakery, and free hot chocolate! Also the Museum’s model trains will be running all afternoon.
