Buffalo Junior Sabres Announce Tryouts for 2012-13 OJHL Season

(Amherst, NY) – The Buffalo Junior Sabres will start their preparations for the 2012-13 Ontario Junior Hockey League season by hosting tryouts, which begin the weekend of April 21 and 22, 2012.

Tryouts will be held at the Northtown Center at Amherst, 1615 Amherst Manor Drive.  Space will be limited.  Interested players should visit the team’s official website, www.buffalojuniorsabres.com, for instructions and to download a copy of the tryout application.

The Junior Sabres, operated by members of the Buffalo Sabres Alumni, will be led by head coach and general manager Michael Peca in the 2012-13 season.

Founded in 1975, the Junior Sabres organization develops elite level players for consideration by higher-level hockey programs, most notably NCAA college hockey.  Three players from the 2011-12 roster have verbally committed to NCAA Division-I programs.

Williamsville South High School Cheer Booster Club is contacting you because we need your support!

This year we are proud to announce that our Williamsville South varsity cheerleaders will be representing our school and community by attending a National Competition at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida in February.  The Cheerleaders and Booster Club have been working hard to raise money for this amazing opportunity since August 2011.

South Cheer Boosters are holding a Spaghetti Dinner on November 18th, 2011 from 4:00-7:30 PM at Williamsville South High School. Dinners are $8 and include Rosina Food spaghetti w/2 meatballs, side salad & roll (drinks & baked goods available for purchase).  Please consider stopping in and purchasing a delicious spaghetti dinner(s).

Excelsior Orthopaedics Launches Comprehensive Sports Concussion Center for Young Athletes

AMHERST, N.Y.– Western New York athletes ages 10 and above can now receive early diagnosis and proper care for sports-related concussions with the launch of Excelsior Orthopaedics’ new Sports Concussion Center and Play Safe program – Western New York’s first and only comprehensive sports concussion management program for young athletes.

The launch of the Sports Concussion Center and Play Safe program coincides with the start of fall sports practices and games for thousands of male and female middle school and high school athletes in Western New York. As part of the new center, Excelsior’s Play Safe program offers a simple and cost-effective way – using computerized neurocognitive testing – for young athletes and school officials to ensure that athletes suffering concussions are fully recovered before returning to the playing field.
