Hearing set for dog attack in Amherst

AMHERST, N.Y. -- A hearing has been scheduled to determine if a dog that bit a child in Amherst should be designated as a dangerous pet.

The Amherst Police department said they scheduled a hearing for January 22 in Amherst Town Court.

The incident happened on Dec. 31 when a dog bit a 10-year-old girl outside an apartment complex in Amherst. The dog was impounded after the incident.

The girl was taken to Women and Children’s Hospital in Buffalo and was released on Monday.
