Councilmember Marlette Recommends Barriers to Improve Public Safety

(Amherst, NY)---In light of the recent tragedy at a local Amherst restaurant, Deputy Supervisor Guy Marlette has created a resolution to the Amherst Town Board which directs the Planning Director to draft a Local Law to amend site plan regulations to require protective structures be placed between the parking lot and the place of assembly (such as a restaurant) where required, as a matter of public safety.

Mr. Marlette states “There are many types of barriers that can add protection where there is public assembly. It is imperative that our Building and Planning Departments examine this area of site plan regulations.”

Mr. Marlette’s resolution goes before the Amherst Town Board Monday, September 26, 2011 at 7PM.
