Interview: Artpark Hosts Legendary Charlie Daniels Band on Sept. 4

Artpark & Company has hosted many notable musicians as part of its "Tuesday in the Park" concert series. The Lewiston performing arts venue has hosted hit-makers, Grammy winners, television and film actors and even a "Dancing with the Stars" contestant.

But tonight's headliner is quite possibly the only one to have had an entire museum dedicated to his life and career.

For 10 years, the Charlie Daniels Museum was open in the heart of Nashville, Tenn. Each year, thousands of visitors (including this writer) ventured into the 2nd Avenue treasury, which housed priceless pieces of a career that includes collaborations with Elvis and Bob Dylan, 20 million records sold, and a membership in the Grand Ole Opry.

Amherst Senior Center Presents "The Audition" Live Theatre on September 7th

The Amherst Center for Senior Services will present “The Audition” - a live theatre presentation on Friday, September 7, 2012 at the Center located at 370 John James Audubon Parkway in Amherst.

“The Audition” is a good old fashioned comedy written by Steve Petix and is the story of a talented young singer/songwriter who blows into town and enthusiastically shows up at a nightclub audition, only to discover the proprietor (a grizzled former Vaudevillian Comic) is in search of a new headline comedian to save his struggling club.

The doors will open at 5:30 pm, followed by cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 6:00 pm.  The show starts at 7:00 pm and will be followed by a coffee bar .  There is no cost to attend the event but reservations are required by calling 636-3059.

The event is made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Amherst Senior Citizen’s Foundation, People, Inc., FM Communications and Try-It Distributing.
