It’s officially move in day at the new Amherst Glen Senior Apartments on Weinberg Campus.  The new building features 50, one-bedroom apartments – designed for low-income older adults, age 62+.  The new building is located at 465 John James Audubon Parkway in Amherst.

Amherst Glen Senior Apartments is a beautifully landscaped two-story building across the street from the Weinberg Campus main entrance.  Rent is adjusted according to income and includes heat, hot water and cable.  Amenities include: automatic, handicap-accessible entrances; air conditioning; security intercom; emergency pull cords and engaging activities for independent adults.

"Researching Your House History" Two-Part Program at Historical Society

A popular program, “Researching Your House History,” will be presented by Cynthia Van Ness, MLS, the Historical Society’s Director of Library and Archives and a research expert. It will take place on Saturday, October 8, and will feature a talk to which all are welcome, plus an optional, exclusive hands-on workshop.

The first part of the program is a lecture, in the museum's auditorium, where Van Ness will speak about the museum research library’s resources, the specific tools that are available, and give tips for how to research a property in which you are interested.

No pre-registration is required for this part of the program; admission is $5 members/$7 non-members, which covers general admission for lecture alone.

The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency (NCIDA) Board of Directors today induced the application of assistance from the Greater Lockport Development Corporation (GLDC) for renovations to 57 Canal Street in the historic locks district in downtown Lockport.  The building is owned by the city of Lockport and leased to the GLDC.  The induced application for the GLDC is for a five-year PILOT is the first ever application through the Niagara County Opportunity Zone Program, which was created by the NCIDA to provide financial incentives in the form of tax abatements to commercial, retail and tourism based businesses to encourage reinvestment to rebuild urban centers in Niagara County.

BJ's Wholesale Club Moving into T-J Maxx Plaza

 

 

Amherst, NY - The T-J Maxx plaza on the corner of Sheridan Drive and Niagara Falls Boulevard is being revitalized and is gaining a new tenent. BJ's Wholesale is moving into the former Media Play store and the entire plaza is receiving an external makeover.

The Amherst Town Board unanimously approved a rezoning effort which will allow the revitalization to take place.

Media Play went out of business in 2006.
