The Pi's Have It!

Saint Benedict School celebrated National Pi Day with a good old fashioned Pie throw.  For $1 a toss, students could throw a pie at their very brave teachers.  From left to right: Middle School Math teacher Miss Dawn Owczarzak, the school's gym teacher Mr. Jeff Kunkel and Middle School Science teacher Mr. Paul Rushboldt.  The money raised will go to purchase new calculators for the math program.  To contact Saint Benedict School call 835-2518 or go to their website www.StBenSchool.org

Technology Advancements Continue at Annunciation School

Effective schoolroom teaching now includes the use of state-of-the-art technology, and Annunciation School in Elma is keeping up with the times.

Serving children from Pre-K3 through Grade 8 and located at 7580 Clinton St., Annunciation features a hands-on computer lab offering 15 computer stations in addition to scanners, laser printers and projectors. The computer lab also features an interactive SMART Board to enhance instruction and learning.

In addition to the computer lab, Annunciation also has SMART Boards in the fifth and sixth grade classrooms, and a SMART Table in kindergarten. Interactive Whiteboard systems and projector units are found in the first, fourth and eighth grade classrooms. Supervised Internet access is also available in every classroom.

Chicken Dinner, Easter Flower Sale to Benefit Mary Queen of Angels School

It’s a busy time of year at Mary Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School in Cheektowaga, and the community is invited to participate in several upcoming events.

The MQA eighth grade class will host a Krolick’s Chicken BBQ from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at Our Lady Help of Christians, 4125 Union Road, Cheektowaga. Dinners will include a half-chicken, cole slaw, noodle/potato salad, roll and butter, dessert and a beverage for the pre-sale price of $9.50, or $10 at the door. All dinners will come in a takeout container. There will also be a basket auction and a 50/50 raffle. 

The eighth grade class is also holding a Easter flower fundraiser, with orders and payment due by Tuesday, April 5.

The Park School to be honored by Women and Childrens Hospital of Buffalo

The Park School was chosen this year to create works of art for Women and Childrens Hospital of Buffalo.  Our talanted artists and their families will be honored at a reception at the hospital on March 26, 2011.  This WCHOB program is a great way to connect to young people and families who are served by the hospital and the community at large. The Park School Girls Varsity Basketball Team drove through a grinding series of 3, back-to-back, playoff games to clinche the New York State CAAC Basketball Championship in Olean on Saturday.

Park School Boys Varsity Basketball Wins Against Harmony Christian in State Playoffs

The PARK SCHOOL Boys Varsity Basketball Team beat HARMONY CHRISTIAN in the New York State Playoffs (NYCAA) with a final score of 51 - 47.

The win culminated a series of games over March 10, 11 and 12th for the State Championship, held in Olean, New York. The Park Team played an extremely good game highlighting the quality of both Coaching and Players. Park Coach Michael Battaglia led Park through a close game between the well matched teams.
