Sheriff Helps Annunciation Students Celebrate Reading Across America Day

Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard was a special guest at Annunciation School in Elma on Wednesday, reading books to a very attentive kindergarten class. Wednesday was Dr. Seuss’ birthday and National Reading Across America Day.

Located at 7580 Clinton St., Annunciation School will also be hosting an Open House and Winter Carnival from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 10. Registration forms for the 2011-12 school year will be available during the event.

Congratulations to the following graduates of Mary Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School on being named to the second quarter honor roll at St. Mary’s High School in Lancaster. Mary Queen of Angels, Pre-K through Grade 8, is located at 170 Rosewood Terrace in Cheektowaga.

Seniors: Sarah Buczek, Ashley Bystrak, Thomas Giampa, Dina Giancarlo, Joshua Gumulak, Kimberly Hacker, Shannon Nowak, Angela Sikora, David Sobczynski and Raeann Stilwell.

Erie 1 BOCES is Offering Policy Services to Keep Schools Current on State and Federal Regulations

Each year State and Federal lawmakers change regulations affecting our local school districts.  Erie 1 BOCES estimates that changes happen so frequently in fact that every year approximately 25% of regulations are changed or become outdated.

To save schools the immense manpower it takes to track these changes, Erie 1 BOCES is now providing policy services for over 100 Western New York schools. An Erie 1 BOCES coordinator spends at least 16 hours each month researching policy changes and then applies this information to participating schools.
