CHEEKTOWAGA, NEW YORK (March 2, 2016) -- Fashion design has opened doors for Amherst Central High School students Katie Fickhesen, Kyle Taylor and Jacob Vokes, aspiring clothes designers.
The Amherst Central students will be exhibiting their designs, along with other students representing a total of eight local school districts, at the “Limitless” fashion show. Students of the Erie 1 BOCES Fashion Design and Merchandising program will be modeling their creations on March 10 at Walden Galleria.
Through classes offered at Erie 1 BOCES, students learned how to turn their inspiration into tangible creativity. The students explored the fashion industry from color complements, to illustration and, finally, the resulting merchandise.
“I have learned how to create the garments that appear in my head into reality,” said Kyle. “I’ve also learned how to organize my creativity into things like ‘mood boards’ and sketches.”
