Nearly 20 Football, Baseball Stars Slated to Attend Annual WNY Sports Card Expo

 

Eighteen well-known athletes — including 13 former Major League Baseball players and five NFL stars, are scheduled to appear at the annual Western New York Sports Card Expo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Batavia Downs Gaming Center, 8315 Park Road, Batavia. 

Former Buffalo Bills Thurman Thomas, Darryl Talley and Ken Jones will take part in the show, presented by The Sports Corner, along with San Diego Chargers Hall of Famer Charlie Joiner and Dallas Cowboys Hall of Famer Rayfield Wright. The Jones autograph is free with a paid admission ticket.

Meet Buffalo Bills Preston Brown and John Miller at Sports Collectors Corner

 

Sports Collectors Corner, located at Fashion Outlets Niagara, 1690 Military Road, Niagara Falls, N.Y., will host an autograph signing event with Buffalo Bills Preston Brown and John Miller from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.

A linebacker, Brown was drafted by the Bills in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft, while Miller, a rookie guard, was taken by the Bills in the third round of the 2015 draft.

“While game day is always a highly anticipated event, it is also a day frequently associated with heavy drinking, reckless behavior, drinking and driving, and an increase in motor vehicle crashes,” said Monica Farrar, director of The Resource Training Center in Amherst. “If alcohol is part of your game day, plan ahead and plan on having a sober ride that will get you home safe and sound.

WNY Sports Card & Memorabilia Expo 16, the area’s largest biannual sports card and memorabilia show featuring 120 tables of merchandise, will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at the Grapevine Banquet Hall (formerly the Hearthstone Manor), 333 Dick Road, Depew.

Ray Bentley Releases Football Novel, Plans Four WNY Book-signing Events

 

Ray Bentley, the former Buffalo Bills linebacker (1986 to ’91) and preseason TV play-by-play announcer now in his 13th season with ESPN as a college football game analyst, is releasing the hardcover edition of his debut fiction novel, “Driftwood,” in late August. Bentley has scheduled several appearances in Western New York Aug. 27-29 to sign copies of his book and meet with fans.

Local High Schools to Host Visiting Drums Along the Waterfront Drum Corps

 

Drums Along the Waterfront Tour of Champions is excited to bring the top eight drum corps in the world to Western New York. The event will be held from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, and all of the corps will be staying at local high schools as they prepare for the big event.
