Interested in Joining 4-H? Informational Meetings Planned

Erie County Legislators Lynne Dixon, Joseph Lorigo, John Mills and Edward Rath, in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension – Erie County, are pleased to announce that two informational meetings to highlight the many exciting programs available through 4-H will be held in November. With an extensive list of opportunities available to youths, ages 5-19, the informational meetings will discuss what programs are offered and how to get involved.

Legislator Rath Announces Free Rabies Clinic Wednesday, Sept. 12

Erie County Legislator Edward Rath encourages pet owners to attend an upcoming free rabies clinic for dogs, cats, and ferrets. Organized by the Erie County Department of Public Health, in partnership with the Niagara Frontier Veterinary Society and the SPCA, serving Erie County, the clinic is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Clarence Highway Garage, 6185 Goodrich Road, Clarence.

“Pets that receive the appropriate vaccinations help keep the entire community safer. Through this clinic, dogs, cats and ferrets can receive the rabies vaccinations, for free. Pet owners are urged to keep their pets up-to-date on vaccinations and take advantage of this free clinic if their pet is in need of the rabies vaccination,” said Legislator Rath.

  • Enjoy SPCA wildlife department presentations with live birds at 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 PM
  • Take a guided winter nature walk at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 PM
  • Listen to winter nature stories at 1:45, 2:45 and 3:45 PM
  • Kids can make winter nature crafts, such as pinecone bird feeders, snowglobes and track pictures
  • Test out snowshoes or cross-country skis for free in our demonstration area
  • Rent snowshoes and take a longer walk on the trails
  • Create snow sculptures around the Education Center
  • Try out the energy bike, and learn how to go "green" in the winter
  • Learn about ice fishing and winter survival techniques
  • Enjoy hot drinks and snacks for sale.

More than a Drop in the Bucket: RBC Blue Water Project Provides $5,000 Grant to Buffalo Niagara Riverkeepers

RBC Wealth Management, a subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) with an office in Williamsville, presented Buffalo Niagara RIVERKEEPER with a $5,000 grant for its participation in the worldwide RBC Blue Water Project™.

Buffalo Niagara RIVERKEEPER was chosen as a RBC Blue Water Project™ grant recipient for its shared commitment to protect watersheds, especially in the Western New York region. RBC Wealth Management, as part of its dedication to protecting fresh water and the Western New York environment, first introduced the RBC Blue Water Project™ as a corporate partner in RIVERKEEPER’s Spring Shoreline Sweep this past April.
